Nostalgia because we both remember what it was like when we got married. The chaos surrounding the day. The excitement of starting a new life together. The fun of seeing all our friends and family together, and providing a happy time for them.

Bittersweet because we are both reminded of our age. It’s always something that crosses our mind when we see a young couple tying the knot. We think, “wow, we did this X years ago….we’re getting ooooold!”. On the one hand this is a good thing – we’ve had a chance to see our son grow, gained perspective on life, and matured. On the other hand, it can be hard to see the sand as it’s falls through the hour glass – time that can never be gotten back, no matter how well (or not) we have used it.

Joy because we see lots of smiling faces, and weddings tend to be a happy time anyway. It’s fun to see all the grinning faces, and happy people. Everyone is in good spirits, and even though the time leading up to the day can be totally crazy and hectic, it seems everyone lets go at the time of the wedding, and decides to just enjoy each other.

We had a great time with Angie and Garett. We want to congratulate them on a new life together and thank them for putting it all together, and making it such a great day. Who could forget the Hawaiian Bonzai Toasts!

4. She can actually talk and interact with our son for 8 hours straight.
5. She somehow always knows the right way to do things.

10. She likes going to school and learning new things

12. She’s naturally beautiful, inside and out.

There are few things in this world that the mere site of them somehow makes my whole life and all it’s elements fall into sync. When the site of them does more than make me smile, but causes a deep sense of satisfaction within me.One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen is my wife’s smile. Period. When she laughs a good, hardy laugh it’s almost mesmerizing. It’s not only that she’s got a very pretty smile, or that she’s so cute when her eyes squint to make room for her lively cheeks – it’s that the joy I get from seeing her un-ashamedly happy fills me with such joy and satisfaction that I feel my life is really worth something and ultimately productive.

Last Saturday Silvia was scheduled to meet with her coworkers for a going away party with their manager who was moving to another company – little did Silvia know that this was actually a ploy to surprise her with a baby shower. As you’ll probably see in the video, she had a great time, enjoying her friends, and appreciating the time and energy they put into the get together.

So what did I learn from this small video? Watching my wife smile and enjoy herself gives me a sense of joy and fullness like nothing else. And nothing makes people smile and enjoy themselves like other people.

Enjoy life, enjoy people, and enjoy smiling.
